Welcome to CDIS (Columbus Discount International Shipping)
Canadians and Mexicans, just tack on an extra $1 for shipping.
For those elsewhere in the world, you can just place your
order like normal and let us figure the shipping costs. We will then send you an
"invoice" (email asking for more money) for the extra $$$. Please note that
your order will not be packed or shipped until the shipping "invoice" balance
has been paid.
Alternately, you can use the same system we use to calculate shipping costs,
figure it out yourself and send all the money at once. Here's how:
A 7 inch record with artwork and all weighs 2 ounces
The packaging we use to ship 7 inches (and compact discs, up to five of either of them in this type of packaging) weighs 2 ounces
A 12 inch record weighs 9 ounces
The packaging we use to ship 12 inches (up to five of them in this type of packaging) weighs 6 ounces
If you order a combination of 12 inch and 7 inch or compact disc, they go in the 12 inch packaging.
So,
Use this equation to find the "Y", which is the weight of your package in ounces:
Ax2+Bx6+Cx4+X=Y
Whereas "A" is the number of 7 inches ordered, "B" is the number of 12
inches orded, C is the number of compact discs ordered and "X" is the weight in ounces of the packaging required to ship your order.
For "X", Use the integer 2 when ordering five or less 7 inch records and no 12 inch records.
Use the integer 6 if you are ordering five or less 12 inch records or a combination of
12 inch records, 7 inch records and/or compact discs.
You now have a number that represents the weight of your order in ounces.
Go here - http://ircalc.usps.gov/ - and select your country of origin, package type
(select "large envelope" for 7 inch packaging and "package" for 12 inch packaging) and
enter the the value of "Y" in the "weight" field. Then, click "continue." On the
next page, find the "Post Office Price" for "First-Class MailŪ International"
service, and send us that amount of money.
Sound complicated? It's not, really.
Here's an example:
Francois orders an Electric Bunnies 7 inch, a Tommy Jay 12 inch and no compact
discs.
A=1, B=1, C=0 ...it will ship in a 12 inch mailer, so X=6, so therefore...
(1x2)+(1x9)+(0x4)+6=Y, so 2+9+0+6= 17 ounces.
Francois goes to http://ircalc.usps.gov/ and selects his country of origin. Francois
is from Spain. Then Francois selects "package" under "select a shape." Then he enters
17 ounces as the weight. Then he clicks "continue." He then scrolls down to "First-Class MailŪ International"
pricing and sees that under "Post Office Price" it says $11.95. He then sends us that
much extra money. Then he gets his records!!!
That wasn't so tough, was it?
